5 Things Every Guy Should Do This Summer

"Saxx Underwear"

Here’s what we’re suggesting you tackle this Summer in-between those days at the beach…

"Saxx Underwear" "Hiking" "Everest"

1. Go on a Hiking Trip.

We’re not talking about driving an RV a few miles outside the city and setting up shop for the weekend. We mean a full blown boots, bag, rationed food, get out there and sweat your ass off hiking expedition. Whether you’re a city man or a straight up farm boy, there’s something to be said about hacking it in the woods for a few days. Call it what you want, but it’s good for the soul.

"Wood Working", "Carpentry"

2. Build Something Out of Wood.

Seriously. Get in your car, go to the lumber yard and buy some wood. I spent last fall labouring over a kitchen table and found out there are few things in life that are more rewarding than using something everyday you built from your bare hands. Whether it’s a bookshelf, a bird house or a fence, completing a carpentry project is on this Summer’s checklist.

"Eleven Rings" "Phil Jackson"

3. Read.

Do you ever have those days when you realize you haven’t finished (or read) a book in a while? Us too. This summer we’re going to up our reading game by picking the right books, starting with Eleven Rings by Phil Jackson. Our Top Summer Reads blog post is coming soon. Stay tuned.

"Saxx Underwear"

4. Join a Team Sport.

Skip the gym and catch some rays this summer by joining a team sport. Whether it’s your office beer league baseball roster or a beach volleyball squad, it’s time to be in the sun and get active outdoors. Get comfortable in your SAXX Pro Elite to keep you supported and cool on those hot days.

"Saxx Underwear"

5. Road Trip With The Guys.

We’ve all imagined packing up and driving off into the horizon, leaving whatever life we’ve carved out for ourselves (see Foster Huntington)… But then we realize how ridiculous that all sounds and carry on with whatever it is we do. We like to think a road trip presents itself as the next best option to totally abandoning any sense of responsibility, especially when joined by a friend of two. Time to hit the road, with friends, Jack Kerouac style.

10 Menswear Blogs You Need To Read

Screen Shot 2013-04-30 at 10.44.06 AM

Dressing well takes effort and for most us, a little bit of research is required. These are the menswear blogs we look to for tips and suggestions of how to step up our sartorial game…

1. Style Girlfriend

"Style Girlfriend"

There’s a surprising number of female menswear bloggers out there, but Megan Collins seems to have hit the right note with men everywhere. This is a go-to site for guys who simply want to know what looks good on them. It’s also interesting to see what the other half considers a well-dressed man, instead of say, your mother. Guys’ Style from a Girl’s Perspective.

2. Street Etiquette

"Street Etiquette"

Joshua Kissi and Travis Gumbs are the faces and voices of the popular mens lifestyle site, Street Etiquette. Founded in 2008, Street Etiquette showcases style using a cultural, historical and urban perspective. A nice mix of imagery and style… keep a close eye on these guys are sporting this season.

3. Put This On

"Put This On"

The Put This On video series is what got every guy’s attention, but you’d be missing out by not reading the accompanying blog regularly. From regular updates about menswear to sale roundups and killer eBay finds, this blog will keep your attention day in and day out.

4. The Midwestyle

Midwestyle

These three guys have roots in mid-America and an affinity for menswear. They give new perspective of how to wear staple pieces with up and coming trends. We frequent their site for the gift giving guides and constant highlights of new products to look out for. A fresh set of eyes for the average guy who needs a style suggestion or two.

5. A Continuous Lean

"A Continuous Lean"

One of the original godfathers of menswear blogging, Michael Williams, is more interesting and better dressed than what GQ deems perfection. Prepare to be jealous of Mr. Williams’ latest travels, presented in epic photosets that leave you wishing you had the funds to hit up London’s underground shops, visit Italian mills, and vacation in exotic parts of Europe. A Continuous Lean appreciates the finer details of life, and so should you.

6. Well Spent

"Well Spent"

Well Spent is a must-bookmark site for anyone who cares about the ethics and sustainability of their gear. While he’s no tree-hugger, the author (Bennett) cares about quality, craftsmanship, and yes, the people who make the stuff he champions. Through this site you’ll discover smaller brands making incredible stuff you’ll want to get your hands on. For wishful spenders, his recurring “Instead of Rent” feature sympathizes with the majority of guys who lust after items on the Internet that hopefully one day they’ll finally be able to afford.

7. Valet

"Valet Mag"

Ohlendorf and his team continue to be a great resource for guys looking to casually step up their style. Valet is for stylish men looking to stay on top of their game on the latest brands and trends. The “Morning Report” remains one of the web’s best link-roundups. Read it, love it.

8. The Style Guy, GQ

"Style Guy"

Glenn O’Brien knows what looks good, plain and simple. There’s a reason he’s been writing The Style Guy section for GQ all these years (so you’ll just have to take him at his word). Glenn’s boundless wit and certain je ne sais quoi have made his style suggestions and life advice not only hilarious but extremely reliable. We’ve been reading his column for years, and he continues to help refine our manly-hood month after month.

9. Die, Workwear!

"Die, Workwear!"

We’re not sure if he’s a purist or has a taste level too high for his own good, but Derek Guy comes off as a walking encyclopedia on classic menswear. Whether he’s ranking double monks in terms of popularity or bemoaning the glory days of menswear blogs (when waxing philosophical about Harris Tweed was more commonplace than reblogging a photo of Nick Wooster) his opinion and knowledge are definitely worth paying attention to.

10. Four Pins

"Four Pins"

Prepare yourself for abrasive personality. Half of what makes this site so great is the aggressive tone and riffs on the menswear world and beyond. Embracing high-end streetwear as well as Italian tailoring, practically no brand name or store is sacred enough to not get ripped apart by Four-Pins. If you’re looking for minimal style suggestions and a good rant, this is the place for you.

7 Beers To Try This Summer

"Saxx Underwear"

When you drop by your local liquor shop in search of new beers to try this summer, here are a few worth keeping an eye out for. Some of these are brand new and some are seasonal offerings, but each of them get the job done in their own way. Next time you’re out scouting potential fridge dwellers, keep these 7 on your radar.

1. Fort Collins Hoptitude Fort Collins Brewery
2. Boulevard Coffee Ale Boulevard Brewing
3. Odell Tree Shaker Imperial Peach IPA Odell Brewing
4. Dogfish Head & Sierra Nevada Rhizing Bines Dogfish Head
5. New Belgium Rolle Bolle New Belgium
6. Firestone Walker Parabola Firestone Brewing Company
7. Founders KBS Founders Brewing

SAXX Drawer

SaxxDrawer

Occasionally we receive humbling thank you messages from men across North America explaining the difference our underwear has made in their lives – notes we never take for granted. We recently received this photo from a fan on Instagram and it was a certainly a wake up call to know how far we’ve come. We’re still a small brand, and we’ve got a lot more work to do but knowing that our product gets its own drawer tells us we’re headed in the right direction. This photo begs the question, are there more drawers out there like this? #saxxunderwear.

Thanks for the support.

Two words. Urban Instagrammers. These guys are out there. They don’t have desk jobs, there is no water cooler… just their iPhone and the urban landscape. Here are the six we follow religiously… why? Because their photos are damn cool, that’s why.
